Reupholstery
Reupholstering a well-made piece of furniture can be a good choice and may be cheaper than purchasing a new item of a similar quality.
Reupholstering keeps old furniture out of landfill and reduces your environmental impact. You're giving a cherished piece a new lease of life and avoiding the production of new furniture.
In order to reduce what gets sent to landfill we will always consider keeping your item's original padding where it is still in good condition and likely to last for many years. Hair and fibre used in traditionally upholstered pieces are prime candidates for re-use and may only need a little topping up to restore the shape and comfort of the original item.
Padding
Where possible we will be phasing out polyurethane foam and introducing Ultraflex SpringBond® padding. This British made material comprises 80% recycled plastic bottles and 20% new polyester fibre and in tests has outperformed traditional foams. Unlike traditional foams Ultraflex SpringBond® does not need any chemical treatment to become fire retardant to UK safety standards. Additionally, Ultraflex SpringBond® doesn't degrade into dust with age and use and is considered a hypoallergenic product.
Fabric
We also consider the environment when it comes to the fabrics we offer. We can supply fabrics made from recycled content and fabrics that are inherently fire retardant without the need for additional treatments.
